 Another head shaker

So I have not been bringing my lunch to work this week because I was lazy and didn't go shopping this weekend. Today, I dropped by our local Subway for lunch. It's a small place, with a tiny parking lot that has only four or five parking spots and two spots for handicapped patrons.

As I pull in the lot, I see a yard maintanance truck in the lot. The typically huge, mega-king-cab, extended bed truck also had a trailer on the back with a couple of mowers and an assortment of rakes, blowers, etc. dangling out at all angles. The vehicle is pulled perpendicular to the parking spaces so that it blocks every single parking space except the two handicapped spots.

The lot goes behind the shop but is not wide enough for anyone except the employees to park their cars. So when I pull in, there's no place to park. Knowing that I'll only be a few minutes, I park in front of the dumpster and pop in to get my lunch.

The two lawn guys are getting their sandwiches in front of me. They get their stuff and leave. I get my sandwich and walk out the door. And there they are.

Instead of leaving, they are leaning against their truck eating their sandwiches! Blocking the whole lot so no one else can park there! Am I missing something?!

As I walk by shaking my head, the one guy gives me a dirty look. I get in my vehicle to leave and drive by shaking my head again. The guy looks at me with a scowl and goes, "What?

So I go, "Yeah, 'cause no one else is going to want to park here today!" And this hillbilly looking clown glares at me with a mixture of anger and annoyance. Like I'm the trouble here!

Sometimes the sheer "Hooray for me, p**s on everyone else!" attitude people have just astounds me. I mean seriously, how self-involved can you be?

sigh

 Mindless inquiry

Okay, I'm worn out from trying to live blog the YouTube debate for my Huckabee blog. So this is just sort of a palette cleanser for my fried brain . . .

On the top we have ex-supermodel Cindy Crawford, 41 years old and mother of two. On the bottom, we have Jennifer Love Hewitt, 28 years old, no children and last time I saw her in a movie, looked pretty hot.

So what happened?

A rather large can of whup a**

Wow! What a pasting the boys put on Atlanta yesterday! I think I called that one. That was just a solid whupping from the get go. The early touchdown as Garcia pumps and throws [insert imitation Cosell voice here] to the venerable one, Joey Galloway...seemingly untouched by the ravages of time. And there he goes! Racing untouched into the end zone past the be-wildered De-An-gel-o Hall. [/end Cosell] Fumble recoveries, interceptions, Ronde Barber taking another fumble to the house. It was all good.

And speaking of whup a**! Catch that Pats game?! Hate to keep blowing my own horn, but I've been telling you. Belichick is gonna keep the hammer down all season, no mercy. And I'm loving every minute of it. Even some of my skeptical co-workers are coming around now. This is like watching the original Dream Team in the Olympics way back. Okay you guys want to play with pros? Let's show you what our pros can do! Watching those guys toy with teams before burying them was a blast. Same thing now with the Pats. Belichick's going to pound this league into the ground to make the point that he doesn't need to cheat to win.

I say go for it.

 Sports

Another great win by my Bulls as they stomped Louisville 55-17. The defense played big, shutting down a high powered offense. And Grothe and the Bulls offense ran roughshod over Louisville's shakey defense. The guys have one final game, on the road with Pitt, then with luck a break into the top 25 and a bowl game. It would be a nice finish to what looked like a lost season during that 3 game losing streak.

The Bolts are on a tear, in the middle of a 5 game win streak, with the guys scoring like it's the All-Star game. Holmer is looking hot in goal, which is what any team needs to be competitve. You can't expect them to win every game, but they need to stop these extended losing streaks to get solidly into the playoffs. The team appears way too talented to settle for just an appearance though, they should be playing for the Cup this year. I'm hoping for a chance to see another Cup finals game.

The Bucs have the dysfunctional Falcons, or as I like to call them "Bucs-North", in Atlanta today. Rested up after the bye week, I'm picking the guys to overrun the Falcons today big. The local fish wrapper echoes my sentiments that the guys need to put a stranglehold on the division with this game and just like I mentioned above with the Bolts, the Bucs are talented enough to be playing for the Championship. Of the four teams at the top, I see it as Dallas, Tampa, Green Bay, and Seattle in that order of win potential. Seattle just doesn't seem to be in sync this year. The Packers will go until Brett Favre has a couple of bad games, and he's long overdue this season. I like a Dallas/Tampa match-up. Though I think Dallas is the better team, the Bucs have a puncher's chance of winning, then all bets are off in the Super Bowl.

Might happen.

 How incompetent can you be?

Remember when the Dems won control of the House. And new speaker Pelosi said she was going to drain the swamp and they were going to have this huge first 100 days and so on.

After accomplishing essentially nothing except raise minimum wage, the Dems launched something like 300 (or was it 600?) investigations into Republicans in search of corruption. And found nothing. Nice use of time.

Now they are supporting the troops by stripping them of everything they need by pushing through a budget bill without enough money to fund the war. Yeah I get it, you hate the war, you hate Bush, so to get your pound of flesh you'll sacrifice the lives of our soldiers. Ooh, such patriotism!

And it's not only soldiers earning the enmity of Dems, it's us poor shlubs paying these f**ker's salaries! Ever hear of the Alternative Minimum Tax or AMT? It was created in the '60s to ensure that the wealthiest citizens pay their fair share of income tax. Problem is, it is not indexed for inflation, so left as is, millions of non-millionaires would end up paying more taxes.

Those rotten, slimey swamp dwelling Republicans, when in control of Congress, passed a yearly patch to fix this problem and keep us normal folk from losing mortgage and child tax deductions and getting stabbed with higher taxes.

But guess who hasn't found the time to pass the patch this year? Your Bush-hating, conservative-loathing, military-hating Democrats, that's who! And it has to be done by tomorrow, the 16th. Think it will get done? Yeah, me neither. And here's where it gets really ugly.

From the date the patch is enacted, it will take 12-13 weeks to reprogram, test, and integrate the changes into the complex computer programs and systems that process tax returns. Which means that 50 million taxpayers will see a significant delay in the arrival of some $75 billion in refund checks next year. Oops! But as long as Fat Teddy and Glam Nancy are okay, who gives a s**t about us ditch diggers? Party of the people my ass!

But in the spirit of full disclosure, the Dems did try and do something to help us out of this mess -- they passed a 130% tax increase on the entrepeneurs who create jobs, which works out to an $81 billion dollar tax increase to fund just this one year of tax relief.

Yeah, you read that right, they raised taxes to fund tax relief! I feel like that robot in the old Star Trek series after Spock freaked him out with circular logic -- raise my taxes to give me a tax refund . . . but I'm paying myself with my own money . . . but it's a tax hike . . . but I'm getting money back . . . but . . . BOOM!

And these people have the juevos to talk smack about the Pres?!

Pathetic!
