Boy, this summer is looking up. After the Lindsay post the other day, here's hot mess Mischa Barton wearing some very awesome boots.
Nice

The pics above are of Helena Christensen and Eva Herzigova, both big time supermodels from the 90s. Nice to see them still rockin' the great bods a decade or so after their heyday.
Now if we can just get some pics of Cindy Crawford and Tatiana Patitz in bikinis at the beach, I'll be in retro heaven.
Looking back, that was such a deliciously decadent time. My favorite line was from Linda Evangelista who said something about how she wouldn't get out of bed for less than $10,000. Maybe it was more, I don't know, it was just the obscene extravagence of the whole scene. Cindy Crawford on House of Style and some guy named Denis Leary coming out of nowhere with those great sixty second rants about Cindy on MTV -- "I want to see Cindy Crawford, on a roof top, in a lawnchair, eating a Snickers bar, 24 hours a day!"
And Cindy going, "Who is this guy?" heh heh Fabulous!
Now we've got a presidential candidate talking about gov't portioning our food and controlling our thermostats. Those crazy days of living large may be gone forever. | | | |

The Rays are still 1 1/2 games behind the Sox in the AL East, but have never been this close to the front for this long, this late in the season in their existence. The upshot of that? Lots of media coverage, and that ain't all bad.
Yesterday, the dust up between Navarro and Garza made Around the Horn with all the guys expressing pleasure in seeing some feistiness from the Rays. A question about the Rays made PTI in the letters segment, though not the one I sent in, but cool anyway.
And today, Jim Rome had Andy Sonnenstine on for his in studio interview. For the record, I don't think Andy will be back, he's not a very good interview. But nice to see Rome giving the guys some love, instead of one of his too-cool smackdowns during the burn segment.
ESPN 60, or whatever it's called, checked in with a local writer to ask about the team and ask about needs for late season. Answer: right handed batter and another solid pitcher. And even Rome was asking about post season possibilities. Very cool.
Just last season these guys had the worst record in the majors, now they're media darlings. Nice to see and I hope it continues. Just like the Marlins twice before, it can be done with a small payroll, but everything has to fall just right. Maybe lightning will strike here for a change.
We are the lightning capital of the country, after all.
Had to post this pic I found of my cutie, Anna Faris, from the SpikeTV awards (I think). Actually, who cares where it's from, she's cute and it's a good hq pic.

So CI is back again on USA Network with the premiere last night. Goren's character is working undercover to get his job back after being suspended at the end of last season.
My big problem is the attitude of his partner Eames. Last year, as Goren struggled with personal problems -- his addict brother, dying mother and so on, she was bitching at him about how he cost her promotions and complained about his ruining her life while he solved the murder of her husband.
At the end of last night's show, she gets all pissed at him because he didn't tell her he was undercover, so now she's really hating on him. I'm not sure where the writers are going with all this. But this is beginning to remind me of the final couple of seasons of the X-Files, when Scully walked around with a perpetual pout and was generally miserable constantly.
I realize this is the least watched of the L&O franchise, that's why its on USA, but if they're going to make it be some soap opera between Eames and Goren, I'm only going to watch every other week, when it's Logan and freckles on. And don't get me wrong, I like the character (just can't remember her name), but I also like Alicia Witt's character as well. She was sexy and snarky, kind of fun.
We'll see how this goes, but I'm not optimistic.
Burn Notice is coming back this Thursday, which I'm looking forward to. It's a pretty cool premise, and I like the casting, especially Bruce Campbell, always nice to see him. But the lead, who I first saw in the second Blair Witch movie, is fairly likable. Girl's kind of odd looking, but overall I've grown fond of the show.
Watched that In Plain Sight last night. A show about the Witness Protection program? Might work. Again, good casting with a nod to Leslie Ann Warren, who looks fabulous for pushing sixty! She's got that niche part down pat, the sexy/ditzy thing, loved her in Clue, a vastly underrated movie.
USA seems to have a pretty decent stable of shows, and seems to get some good actors to work in them. It would be fun to see them get more dap from the media, but if the regular networks keep focusing on reality shows and other dreck, this cable network might just sneek in there and become a force.

The Red Sox won again behind another wonderful outing by this kid Masterson. Where the heck did they find him? With a loss by the Rays at Texas, the Sox are 1 1/2 games up in the division. The Rays had an awkward game, with some uncharacteristic stumbles and bumbles in the field, that might be a sign of mental fatigue after their hot start. It will be interesting to see how Joe Maddon works on that to keep the kids on track for the season. No reason why they can't be contending for the division or wild card come September.
re: The brawl the other day -- cool bit of juxtaposition in the local fish wrapper as they put the quote from Coco about guys fighting like girls, next to an image of my boy Jonny Gomes raring back with a haymaker and his quote about how Crisp probably wasn't talking about him. heh heh
Kasey Kahne won at Pocono yesterday with the return of NASCAR to TNT. Which means the return of Kyle Petty to the booth and much fun follows. I was dying during the bit where Montoya's car is in flames, the driver climbs out and walks toward the fire guys who are kind of standing idly by as the car burns. Petty goes, "Mr. Montoya, can I have your autograph?" Laugh out loud funny, and biting at the same time as he and Wally drolly mentioned that the safety workers might want to put the flames out before the car burned to the ground.
The guys came back moments later with the company line about how everyone was doing their proper jobs with video to back it up. But I hope they don't reign these two in -- they're funny and insightful and a bit edgy, and there's nothing wrong with that. And informative as well.
The other bit that caught my eye was the new camera angle in the car, which was cool, and Kyle asking Wally if he noticed that Kyle Busch was downshifting in the corners, an unheard of stunt at large tracks like Pocono. That lead to the revelation, for me anyway, that the guys have the two ignition boxes set at different timing settings, then switch during the race to gain more torque/horses depending on tire wear and so on. Very cool, and exactly what adds something to these telecasts. Two big thumbs up for this broadcast.
And the surround is better also.
Fav golfer Morgan Pressel finished sixth in the LPGA Championship Sunday. Doomed by a first round 73, she finished four shots back and $250,000 behind in prize money. I've said this before, she needs a better caddy. She can't keep battling from behind in these tournaments. A good caddy would help her with a better game plan on the first day. It'll be interesting to see if she makes a change this year if her string of non-competitive rounds continues.
