Here's my thing

 Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays as well!

I hope your Christmas time is safe and fun filled with family and warmth and all things nice. Here's a glimpse of my Christmas tree with it's all cartoon ornaments. Always a favorite of the local kids, big and small. heh heh

There's a ton of ornaments, but the tree is so big they don't seem to cover it well. Guess I'll just have to buy more. Shucks.

Peace to you all.

 And speaking of big noses

Apparently the folks at TMZ.com are thinking along the same lines as I am. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. But they posted a blurb about the now unrecognizable Ashley Tisdale after her rhinoplasty. Ash claims it was to repair a deviated septum, which now must be the most common congenital defect in America, as more and more women, particularly in the entertainment industry are having this procedure done.

Don't know about you, but I think these gal's big noses are cute. It gives them a bit of unconventional beauty, which is nice in this world of cookie cutter models and actresses.

sigh

 More sibling stuff

So I see where Ashlee Simpson has a new video out, for a new song I suppose, that's getting more than a few icky reviews. It doesn't seem all that bad to me. Looks like she's trying to channel Gwen Stefani trying to channel Dale Bozio of Missing Persons, right down to the techno-pop sound of the song.

If Missing Persons is a bit before your time, they were a forgettable mid-eighties band, most notable for their lead singer, Bozio, who had a habit of wearing these clear plexiglass bowls over her boobies. Obviously with something in them to make her MTV safe, as this was in the time before Madonna could do a video in a completely see-thru mesh top and not raise an eyebrow.

Anyway, here's the video. Judge for yourself:

BTW, am I the only one who thinks Ashlee looked cuter with the big nose?

 Pregnant?!

Really?

I'm shocked!!

She just turned 16 in April, and now Jaime Lynn Spears is three months pregnant by her 19 year old boyfriend. Amazing. That Lynne Spears is hitting on all cylinders as a mom isn't she?

I wonder how Nickelodeon is going to handle this pregnancy on her show? I see a very special episode of Zoey 101 in the coming season.

Honestly, and I apologize for the vulgarity here, but when mom wasn't teaching her daughters to keep their legs together, when she wasn't teaching them to behave with dignity, couldn't she have at least taken the time to teach them about birth control? What high-schooler doesn't know about this stuff? And Jaime says she was "shocked" to find out she was pregnant!

Who would have thought Britney would look like the reasonable daughter in any situation?

I wondered about this girl when I saw that video of her cursing out that woman who was yakking at Brit some months back. Don't know if I mentioned it here, but it made me wonder if she wasn't a lot more like big sis than anyone thought. Apparently, she has the same knack for torpedoing her burgeoning career as her talentless older sister.

Hey Lynne. How's that parenting book coming along? Guess you've got some more material now, huh? Should be good for a few more chapters or a companion book.

Eesh! What a family!

Somewhere, Lindsay and Paris are sharing a champagne toast. They don't look near so bad now.

 Did you notice?

Surely you read about it. The effects had to have been felt all across our country --

Iraqi oil production is now above pre-war levels. The BBC reports that Iraq is now producing nearly 2.3 million barrrels per day according to the Int'l Energy Agency.

Remember when the war started, and OPEC ramped prices up because they said that the war would destabilize oil production. Then the bumped the prices up again because of Katrina, then again when we didn't get hit by hurricanes, and so on.

Well, now that Iraq is churning out oil, and not selling it through some illegal UN mechanism, shouldn't the price of crude oil come down to pre-war levels?

Obviously it won't. Because OPEC is a monopoly. And this is why monopolies are illegal in the US. They can set any price they want and we can't do anything about it. Your local power company is a monopoly, but theoretically your local rate commission keeps them in check. And of course that doesn't work either as the power cos. simply throw boxes of money at the commission and they let them do whatever they want. But the principle is sound.

Did you know it costs OPEC $4 per barrel to get crude oil out of the ground? And they sell it for $90 per barrel! That's a . . .

wait, let me get my calculator . . .

that's like a 2200+% increase!

I'm thinking the Saudis and OPEC could cut the price of crude in half and still be able to afford their solid gold toilet seats, their Bentleys, their Rolls Royces, their harems of teenage boys and girls, etc.

But of course they won't. Because they're greedy, freekin' bastards! So here's my thing . . .

We go into northern Iraq and make a deal with the Kurds. They like us. A lot. We pull that state of the art military base out of Saudi Arabia and put it in Kurdistan. We arm the heck out of those guys and promise them all the support they could ever need. We buy 75% of their oil at a fixed price and they can sell the rest to whomever they want for whatever price they want.

We go into ANWAR and sink about a hundred wells. The caribou won't mind. Remember all the shrieking about the pipeline? Yeah, nothing happened to the ecosystem then. Nothing's going to happen now. Next, out into the Gulf of Mexico and drop some more wells. Sorry John and Nancy, but we're doing it.

Now we've got an inexpensive source of crude to cut down our reliance on the greedy OPEC clowns. Next we build some more refineries, 'cause we need them. More crude + more refinery capacity = cheaper gas. Totally new concept!

If we get gas back down to where it was a few years back -- remember, gas has tripled in just a few years, we could add a small tax and it would be unnoticed. Think of all the good things we could do with the windfall income -- health care, infrastructure, social services, and so on.

Don't laugh, it could work.
