The boys sent a message to Cleveland last night -- don't get ahead of yourselves!
Boston won 7-1 on a dynamic performance by Josh Beckett, who should have closed the book on the Cy Young consideration by striking out 11 batters in the must win game. Beck now has a 3-0 record this post season with an insane 1.17 ERA.
C.C. Sabathia had another ineffective outing and finally, Boston did something at the plate. Expect a much different performance from Curt Schilling, who beat himself up over his game two loss. Schill's a big stage pitcher, he won't let Boston lose Saturday. | | Posted by postaldog at 3:30 AM -

That Nicole Scherzinger?
Yeah, she's pretty hot.

In an interview in Blender Magazine, she says she cried at her first photoshoot for the Pussycat Dolls because she wasn't used to showing that much skin.
Guess she got over it okay.

USF BULLS RANKED NO. 2 BY BCS POLL!
'nuff said

My Bucs, led by ageless wonders Jeff Garcia, Joey Galloway, and Ike Hilliard, improve to 4-2 with a 13-10 victory over the Titans. In football terms, these guys ought to be collecting social security by now. Thing is now, with the team playing solid ball, spend a few bucks and pick up a quality running back. I haven't seen enough from the guys left on the team to feel comfortable for the year. Don't want to blow it now by being cheap.
My girl Morgan Pressel shot a final round 71 to finish 13th at the Samsung World Championships Sunday. Golf machine Lorena Ochoa stomped the field with a final score of 18 under par at the event. This girl is astounding. And at only 26 years old, she's poised to dominate the women's tour for many years to come. Not crying for Morgan though, she's won over $900k this year -- 8th on the money list. Not too shabby.

Tough loss last night as the Tribe evened the series with a 13-6 win in Boston. This series was originally painted as a set of awesome pitching duels, but it may not be playing out that way. Starters Sabathia, Carmona and Schill looked less than impressive. Reliable relievers/closers like Perez and Papelbon couldn't get it done. This may just come down to the bats and which starting pitcher can throw the big game and go 7 innings deep. I'm agonizing over the loss, but the dynamic of the series in exciting. Biggest worry -- the winner is too gassed to give the Rockies a challenge in the Series. Other prediction -- we won't see Gagne on the mound again, period.

Jeez! How 'bout them Bulls?! The win over Central Florida was not unexpected, but 64-12? Woof! UCF talked a lot of smack prior to the game, big mistake. If you can't step up, don't speak up. You know? And they've been lobbying hard for this game, trying to set up an interstate rivalry. Uh . . . not working yet. Local fish wrapper suggests the Bulls may rise to #3 in the polls with the losses by other big teams. Hey, this former student is not complaining.

Bolts came back to earth with a 6-4 loss to the Panthers. The boys seem snake-bit against these guys, but they still have only one loss and are second in the division. It's a long season, no worries yet.
Morgan Pressel shot another 72 yesterday to slip into a tie for 11th at the Samsung Championship. She's only 8 shots back, only, I say as though I could make that up. heh I'm not expecting a win, but a good finish is within reach. The tournament pays a million to the winner, so I imagine getting in or near the top five would be a healthy payday. And speaking of that -- Michelle Wie is still in last place, 19 shots over par. This is an invitational tournament. Michelle has done absolutely nothing this year. I wonder how many girls who have toiled on the tour would have liked a shot at winning the big money here. I'm not yakking specifically on Michelle, but if she's not going to be competitive, then let someone who's earned her stripes and is doing this for a career get a chance at the big payday. It's only fair.

Great start to the series as Boston wins game 1, 10-3. The guys played great small ball loading the bases 5 times, drawing walks, and hitting timely singles and doubles. Manny made two chuckle-inducing catches in left -- though that second one may have been a trap. And once again, Eric Gagne made it ridiculously edgy by loading the bases in the ninth before getting the final out. If I'm Tito, the only way that guy gets on the field is in a blowout like tonight. jeez
Sabathia never got in the game. And I may be wrong about this, but he looked visibly shaken in the fifth before they pulled him out. Nerves? I don't know. Kind of weird seeing a CY Young candidate pitcher look that rattled in the post season. It wasn't like they were playing home run derby with him, he was just all over the place with his pitches.
This is the first time I've watched Cleveland play, their DH, Haffner, what a horse! That guy is huge! Very intimidating at the plate.
On another note, cutie Morgan Pressel slipped a bit today shooting a 72 in the second round of the Samsung Championsip to put her in a tie for 7th. Still not bad, let's hope for a little rebound action tomorrow. Go get 'em kid!
